We are pleased to share with the GEMMA Community that our student Loren Sandoval Artega (15th edition) has been awarded the Journal of Gender Studies Women’s Studies Prize 2024 for her work.

Loren Sandoval Artega's thesis, entitled "The Ideological (Re)construction of Motherhood and Working Mothers: A Critical Discursive Psychology Approach to Personal and Public Policy Narratives in Monterrey, Mexico", was supervised by the professor of the University of York Dr. Asha Abeyasekera (main supervisor) and by the professor of the Central European University Dr. Nadia Jones-Gailani (support supervisor).

This prize is awarded annually by the Center for Women's Studies (CWS) of the University of York to a student for their overall work in CWS. In this context ‘work’ refers to assessments, class participation and good citizenship. The prize is awarded to:

  • A student who has contributed generously to the research and social culture of CWS, supporting others and making the most of the opportunity for themselves OR
  • A student who has made extraordinary progress in their MA studies.

The name of the students awarded this prize is published on the CWS website.

Congratulations Loren!
