We are delighted to announce the GEMMA community that our former student Dr. Orianna Calderón Sandoval has been awarded with the 2018-2019 Extraordinary Doctoral Prize for her PhD titled “Visualising In/Equalities through Contemporary Documentary Cinema. A Diffractive Reading of Feminist Practices in Spanish and Italian Non-Fiction Films”. The PhD was co-supervised within two different doctoral programmes: “Estudios de las Mujeres, Discursos y Prácticas de Género” in the University of Granada and “Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures - Curriculum in Gender and Women Studies EDGES” in the University of Bologna. Their supervisors are Dr. Adelina Sánchez Espinosa (UGR) and Dr. Rita Monticelli (UNIBO). Orianna’s PhD was carried out within the Project: proyecto ITN Marie Skłodowska-Curie Horizon 2020 “GRACE-Gender and Cultures of Equality in Europe” (2016-2019). Currently, Orianna is working as a Postdoc Researcher in a contract offered by the Consejería de Transformación Económica, Industria, Conocimiento y Universidad de la Junta de Andalucía - Fondo Social Europeo.
